How to get started on Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)?

1. 1) Contact your physician to determine if he/she is familiar with BHRT. If your physician is familiar with BHRT and prescribes it for you, bring your prescriptions to Carel’s Pharmacy & Compounding Center and we will compound them as prescribed. If your physician is not currently prescribing BHRT, we will provide your physician with introductory material and a letter stating your interest.
2. 2) Many of the physicians we interact with whom are currently prescribing BHRT still prefer we follow the consultation process to derive a therapy plan.
3. 3) This consultation process begins by completing a confidential patient evaluation that includes questions regarding your medical history and a detailed symptoms check-list.
4. 4) Schedule a consultation with the pharmacist to review your history and symptoms as well as answer additional questions. The charge for this is $95 and it lasts approximately one hour.
5. 5) Submit saliva test (Kits available at Carel's Pharmacy & Compounding Center).
6. 6) A review is made by the pharmacist and a suggested dosage and form is compiled.
7. 7) The pharmacist sends a report and a suggested starting regimen to your doctor.
8. 8) When approved by your doctor, we then compound your prescription and contact you when it is ready to be picked up.
9. 9) Six to seven weeks from starting BHRT prescriptions you will complete another symptom list as well as submit an additional saliva test if desired.
